Today’s installment comes from a conversation a former co-worker had with her daughter after she graduated from the campus preschool she attended at our community college. She had recently begun her school year in kindergarten, and was expressing her concern about the “stop-light” approach used by teachers as a classroom discipline policy. Children’s conflicts were qualified using traffic light colors (green = good; yellow = warning; red = bad/stop/problem).
Child: “Why don’t they talk it out, and try to reach an answer to the problem?”
