  1. One day when my two little boys were very small, the older mentioned the word “stungel” in a sentence, a word I didn’t recognize (obviously). When I asked, I was very surprised when my younger son vigorously claimed he knew what stungel meant. After a bit of discussion I figured out that they both thought stungel meant .. a dark creepy place with spiders, like a dungeon. I wondered how they BOTH got that?

  2. Thanks, Heidi! I love this. It’s a terrific example of young children’s creative use of language. Is it possible your sons decided upon this word together at some point in the past?

May I use “stungel” in the future, and give your sons credit?
